The Tiki Lounge: Delta Hotels and Resorts Nova Scotia Showcase Fan Contest
Deadline: March 7th at 9am
So you think you’re a pretty big fan of Nova Scotian music, do you? Well here is your chance to show us just what kind of fan you are. Delta Hotels and Resorts and Music Nova Scotia present The Tiki Lounge Fan Contest, where one local music enthusiast will win a round trip for one to Toronto on March 24th, 2012, two night’s accommodation at the Delta Chelsea and your name on the guestlist to attend our coveted VIP event at Canadian Music Week, The Tiki Lounge: Delta Hotels and Resorts Nova Scotia Showcase.
We wouldn’t award just anyone the title of Ultimate Nova Scotian Music Fan, so here is how you win:
Create an online video explaining why you are the ultimate fan of Nova Scotian music. It can be funny, serious, informative, strange, outrageous, or anything else that you think will demonstrate just how much you love this scene. The video must be under two minutes and reference Nova Scotian music in some capacity. We also wouldn’t be able to have this contest without our title sponsor for CMW, Delta Hotels and Resorts, so you must also include a shout-out to the hotel chain known for their longtime support of Nova Scotian music.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of suggestions that might inspire you: - an infomercial - an interview - a music video - a scene from a movie - a song you wrote for this contest - a montage - a civil war reenactment with chimps (without harming the chimps, of course)
Perhaps you are already a rabid fan of one or all of this year’s Delta Hotels Nova Scotia Showcase performers, which include Wintersleep, Mike O’Neill, Ben Caplan, Ria Mae, Writers’ Strike, Mo Kenney, The Mountains & The Trees, Molly Thomason, The Stanfields, Carleton Stone and Andrew Hunter & The Gatherers. They are the bread and butter of the showcase, so it might be a good idea to show them some love in your video. Maybe if you’re charming enough you could even convince them to be IN your video.
Once you have created your brief masterpiece, you must submit your video via YouTube link and contact information to Music Nova Scotia for inclusion in the contest. Once the link has been submitted, it is up to you to get the most views. Why? Because the most YouTube views wins! Please note Music Nova Scotia also has Decepticons that detect Autobots, so no cheating on the number of views.
This is about promoting local music, so get your video out there. Make your mom watch it 30 times in a row or bribe your friends to watch it at least once a day. It’s all about the views, people.
On the morning of March 7th, the list of submitted YouTube links will be visited by Music Nova Scotia, where the video with the most views will be announced as the winning submission. If the winner is not available to begin travel arrangements on March 7th, the runner-up will be given the prize, so keep your phone on!
Here is a quick recap of what you must do to participate:
- Create one video (two minutes or less) - reference Nova Scotian music (in your own creative way) - mention Delta Hotels and Resorts (in your own creative way) - Submit your contact info and Youtube link to info@musicnovascotia.ca - Promote your own video - No Autobot views - Answer the phone to claim your prize - Contest closes on March 7th
The contest starts TODAY, so get a move on, folks! This a once in a lifetime chance to see the great city of Toronto during the largest music festival in the country, schmooze with industry V.I.P.s, stuff your face with delicious Nova Scotian seafood, and dance the night away with your favorite showcasing artists. So, now that you know the score, are you the Ultimate Nova Scotian Music Fan? GO!
