New this year: International Pin Pals! and The Bloggers Round Table International Pin Pals It’s time to get that music career rolling! As The Dude would say, it’s you know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. This opportunity gives priority to Export Ready and Exporting artists under the Export Development Program. If you would like to participate in International PinPals, please forward your name(s) to Lindsay-Bea Davis at lindsaybea@musicnovascotia.ca. Team space is limited. Music Nova Scotia will act as the matchmaker in selecting teams. Bands selected to perform at the bowling alley will be chosen from the list of NSMW showcasing submissions. Don’t miss out on this unique networking opportunity! You never know, you could end up rolling in the dough. International Pin Pals The Bloggers Round Table The music will be played, the beer will be consumed, and the feedback won’t be sugar coated. Music Nova Scotia is excited to introduce a panel of music bloggers and digital tastemakers enlisted to review your work, no holds barred. If you think you can handle the ‘circle of truth’ and would like to have your music analyzed by a painfully honest panel, we invite you. The only rule? No crying like a sissy. A call for music submissions and day and time for this NSMW event will be announced in September. Stay tuned!

Yarmouth will be spending the next 12 months celebrating 250 years as a community, and from November 3-6 Nova Scotia Music Week will be joining in the celebrations. Music Nova Scotia has seen music week grow considerably in the last three years. The amount of delegates attending the event has almost doubled since 2008 when the event was held in New Glasgow; this past year saw 734 registered delegates. Scott Long, executive director of Music Nova Scotia explains, “A conference of this size requires fixed, non-negotiable amenities such as housing and meeting space and a 1500-2000 seat venue for our Gala Awards Show presentation. Of the bids received for music week, the Yarmouth bid was the only bid that could meet our requirements, not to mention the outstanding track record the community has for hosting our hallmark event.” Although Yarmouth has been selected as the host for this event for the third consecutive year, this is not to say there was no competition. According to Long, “We actually delayed the timing of our decision considerably to see if we could find outside the box ways to make it work in a community that was just shy of meeting our requirements. At the end of the day it was not feasible logistically or financially due to the recent growth of the event.” The community that gave Yarmouth a strong run for their money is no stranger to music week, as they hosted it in 2006 and 2007. “Liverpool put in a very strong bid and I would like to thank them for their time and efforts. Nova Scotia Music Week will return to Liverpool in the future. There is infrastructure work being done right now that will make their future bids a reality”, adds Long. Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week will once again partner with Molson Coors Canada, The Rodd Grand Yarmouth and Rodd Colony, The Yarmouth Vanguard, The Town of Yarmouth, Yarmouth 250 and CJLS The Wave.
