Annual General Meeting Election Results and Annual Report

After two weeks of voting, the results are in! Thirty-Eight percent of the Music Nova Scotia membership took part in the online vote for the Board of Directors Election to determine who would fill the seven spots this year.

Creative Music Workshops In July

Now in its 17th year, the CMW gathers renowned musicians and educators from across North America. As well as Jerry Granelli (drums - Halifax), the CMW core faculty also includes Jay Clayton (voice - New York City), J. Anthony Granelli (electric bass - New York City), David Tronzo (guitar - Boston), Dani Oore (saxophones - Toronto) and Tim Crofts (piano - Halifax).

The University of Queensland (Australia) and the University of Quebec at Montreal Psychology seek participants in an online study of Musicians' well-being: "In the current research we are especially interested in those who work in creative industries.

Voting Now Open for 2013 Music Nova Scotia Board of Directors

(Halifax, May 27, 2013) Nine nominees, including six incumbents, are vying for seven spots on the Music Nova Scotia Board of Directors – and we need you to vote!

All Music Nova Scotia members are encouraged to vote online for the Board of Directors, who will act as guidance for all Music Nova Scotia activities.

The election will be conducted electronically through https://vod.votenet.com/MNSBOD2013 from May 27th at 10:00AM through June 6th, 2013 at 5:00PM.

Nova Scotia Music Week Heads for Sydney

(May 28, 2013 Halifax, NS) Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week is crossing the causeway for the first time and heading for Cape Breton Island. The festival will take place in Sydney, Nova Scotia from November 7th to 10th. With over 100 artists playing on multiple stages, Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week is one of the largest music festivals in the region.

Music Nova Scotia executive director Scott Long sees the upcoming edition of Nova Scotia Music Week as an important milestone for the organization. According to Long,

Galaxie Young Performers Program at 2013 Winnipeg Folk Festival applications now open!

Now in its 14th year, the Winnipeg Folk Festival is pleased to once again present the Galaxie Young Performers Program. Open to emerging musicians ages 14-24, this training and performance program offers a day of workshops and mentoring with professional musicians hired to perform at this year’s festival. Participants also have the opportunity to perform in front of the Festival audience. We hope those who take part will come away inspired to pursue a future in music. It’s also a chance to interact and exchange ideas with young musicians with similar musical interests.
