Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week

Since the inception of Nova Scotia Music Week in 1997, the music community has gathered together to participate in a range of educational and networking opportunities while honoring and celebrating our artists and industry professionals. Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week engages the Music Nova Scotia membership and music industry at large while showcasing emerging and established artists to the public.  Music Week is held over four days in November with workshops, showcases, receptions, a trade show and dozens of showcases, including the Industry/Music Awards Brunch and Gala Awards.

Through the pilot initiative of moving Music Week from Halifax to Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Music Week 2006 and 2007 proved to be the most successful event years in its history. Over 50 venue bookers and more than 500 delegates from across Nova Scotia attended the 2007 event, taking in 70 performances and celebrating more than 100 nominees for their contributions to Nova Scotia’s music industry.

In 2008 Nova Scotia Music Week was held in Pictou County, Nova Scotia proving to be the largest edition of the event to date. Nearly 600 delegates and over 200 volunteers came together to celebrate the music industry in Nova Scotia. The 2008 conference also saw our first arena production of the Gala Awards and the inaugural Bringin’ it Home Buyers Program.

The 2009 edition of Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week will be held in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. This year Music Nova Scotia and the Yarmouth Host Community Event Committee will present an educational conference with a focus on the “digital artist” and our first ever International Buyers Program. Two significant milestones for Music Nova Scotia and Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week.

Feedback:

“Nova Scotia Music Week is a fantastic event which allows Nova Scotian artists and industry professionals to connect in an intimate and relaxed setting. Each year, it gives both the attending artists and industry representatives a great snapshot of how vibrant and rich our industry is in talent of virtually every genre and at all levels of success.”

Janesta Boudreau - Sonic Entertainment Group

"Nova Scotia Music Week is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents of up and coming and established artists and provides great networking opportunities among both our artists and industry."

Sheri Jones - Artist Manager - Jones and Co.

"I learned that the rest of Canada's music communities would do well to tear a page from Music Nova Scotia's handbook.  You gotta know where you come from to know where you're going. Anyone who is a musician from Nova Scotia knows exactly what that means."

Grant Lawrence - Host - CBC Radio 3
