About Nova Scotia Music WeekNova Scotia Music Week has witnessed 14 years of milestones. For the 15th year since its beginning in 1997, Nova Scotia’s musical community will convene to support the exponential growth of the widely appreciated event. Educational and networking opportunities, celebration, and honour of our artists and industry professionals will be augmented by workshops, showcases, receptions, and two award events – the Industry/Music Awards Brunch and Gala Awards. Some conference events are industry specific, but all aspects of the event are open to the community through the purchase of a delegate’s pass or showcase tickets. The festival directly benefits Nova Scotian communities, and their musicians and industry professionals. Talents are presented to the public and industry professionals through invitation to attend showcases and concerts; the awards gala generates awareness and celebration of artists’ successes; and the conference serves to educate the music community on emerging issues and solutions as well as the tried and true tricks of the trade. Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week – A Timeline of Milestones 2006: The first crusade of Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week outside of Halifax. This year, Liverpool, Nova Scotia was host to what proved to be one of the most successful years in the event’s history. 2007: Another year in Liverpool, Music Week proved yet again to be one of the most successful event years in its history. This was marked by the attendance of over 50 venue bookers and more than 500 delegates from across the province. There were over 70 performances for all to enjoy and a celebration of more than 100 nominees. After witnessing such success, Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week decided it advantageous for all to invite other Nova Scotian communities to host the event. 2008: Pictou County was the proud host of the largest proven edition of the event to date, drawing roughly 600 delegates and more than 200 volunteers to support and celebrate the event. An important milestone for the Gala Awards portion of the festival was also observed – the first arena production of the awards show. 2008 also marks the introduction of the Bringin’ it Home Buyers Program. 2009: Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week invited Yarmouth to be the host community for the event this year, and it was again, proven monumental. Two new milestones were witnessed: the presentation of an educational conference focusing on the “digital artist” and the first ever International Buyers Program. 2011: Now in its 15th year, Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week returns to Yarmouth November 3-6, 2011 for the third year in a row with all the goodies of years past, with an addition this year of hosting the COCA Eastern Regional Conference. Music Nova Scotia is proud to present Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week 2011.
