On a sunny day in May 2008, Kris Pope and Dave Scholten had each finished their Steve O Reno’s coffee and were sitting on the concrete wall behind the library. One of them said “Acres”, the other one said “and Acres”, and in the same way that they write a song, or a good friend finishes a sentence, Acres and Acres was born.

The resulting work captures a more expansive and sonically ambitious GGMU. While Zombies!!! takes the band on a progressive path, they still manage to maintain the concise pop sensibility that made their early work so memorable. Starting with the aggressive and hook ridden “Pop Song Automaton,” the album reveals its depth as it progresses through the sombre “Mountain Town” and onto the sprawling closer, “Fish in the Water.”
