10:00 AM – 10:30 AM Yarmouth Room

Roundtable Discussion: Where Do We Go From Here?
10:35 AM – 11:30 AM Yarmouth Room

As recorded revenues continue to shrink the traditional roles in the music industry are becoming more and more fluid. Should labels look at moving into management? Should managers set up a label? Do the direct to fan marketing platforms like Topspin empower the artist & manager at the expense of the label? Or do they give more room to grow the role of both parties? With more diversified, less concentrated revenue streams is the challenge of management becoming too much to handle? How can an artist audit everything? What do artists starting from scratch do? At what stage does it make sense to sign? And when do you have enough fans to go it alone?

The session will also focus on broader issues such as streaming versus downloading. Cloud Music – the opportunities and threats and how to monetize it. Subscription services: how much can you expect digital to be a part of your revenue stream and what does that mean for the artist?

A high level roundtable discussion with all foreign delegates and selects invitees. All are welcome to sit in!

Panel 1: Synch & Games
12:30 PM – 1:25 PM

Video games generate more money than the film industry; and for an increasing number of people they already occupy more wallet-share than music and DVDs combined. Shouldn’t the music business get on board? What types of music and games partnership are possible? And how do you get your music into a game?

Then of course there are standard film and ad syncs. How important are they, both in terms of money and profile? What can you do to increase your chances of a sync? How much can you expect to make from them? And if you do score a sync what steps should you take to maximise the exposure you get from it?
