         
SoHo Ghetto
Soho Ghetto are a 7-piece band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, formed in the spring of 2008 by singer-songwriter Marc-Antoine Robertson. The band met up through varying degrees of separation, and after some minor lineup changes they were able to settle and focus on developing what became their “pop folk” sound. Pulling from a wide range of influences, their music captures the qualities of Americana and Roots/Folk coupled with high-energy dance-rock rhythms and smattered with a maritime flavour brought out by the band’s four-part harmonies. Songs about dreams, nostalgia, unrequited love & ever-flowing wine taken from a thousand nights of self-indulgent prosaic writing sessions coupled with interdependent musings of the band along the way. Released to a sold out crowd this past February, their newest EP “Humble Beginnings Make for Good Night Life” has been described as “...orchestral pop...” and that they “ [walk] the tightrope between bouncy indie-folk balladry and insightful alt-country...” They have played the Evolve festival for the past 2 years and were a headliners at the Halifax Urban Folk festival. They also showcased at Nova Scotia Music Week in Yarmouth in 2011. They have opened for bands such as; Elliot Brood, Grand Theft Bus, Sherman Downey and Caledonia and shared the stage with the likes of The Trews, Carmen Townsend, The Sheepdogs, Mike O'Neill, Ben Caplan Soho Ghetto are currently promoting their latest album and will be touring the east coast in May.
